12-year-old singer publicly shunned invitation to audtion for Britain’s Got Talent

He took to Twitter to tell Simon Cowell.

While some auditions on Britain's Got Talent really are people who apply out of their own interest, it is a lesser known fact that many of those who audition are actually scouted. An internet viral comedian, a talented dancer seen at a show or a young boy busking on the streets could all be scouted by producers to come on the show. While it's a very flattering offer and something many people would jump at, it's certainly not for everyone. Take for example, 12-year-old Tom 'Mouse' Smith. The young singer was approached by the show but didn't want it. This didn't stop the show bosses from trying to persuade him, which prompted him to write this note:

'‘Dear Simon and BGT, 'Thanks for all the phone calls and invitation to your TV talent show. Sorry if my first answer wasn’t clear enough but I don’t want to be in this competition. ‘'I write and sing songs for other reasons I can’t even put into words. No need to phone me back as now everyone has seen this so I could never come on the show without looking daft. ‘Yours sincerely, Tom ‘Mouse’ Smith''.
