Originally Anna Sorokin, she moved to the US in 2013 under the name Anna Delvey, claiming she was a wealthy German heiress with a net worth of around $60 million.
Anna quickly managed to get her friends to pay for her extravagant hotel stays, restaurant bills and shopping trip, using the excuse that her money was stuck abroad or she had forgotten her wallet.
She was then convicted of larceny and theft of services and put in prison in 2019 until February 2021. In March of last year, she was placed into custody and was to be deported back to Germany.
Growing up in Eschweiler, Germany, she left at age 19 for Paris where she studied fashion and went under the surname Delvey.
