Anna Kendrick to direct The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo adaptation

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo movie has found its new director

It's a story so heartbreaking, so glamorous, and so emotional that it makes perfect sense to see Netflix adapt the novel for the screen, and a brand new director has been announced.

Anna Kendrick will reportedly direct The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo movie, according to Variety.

The role comes after her directorial debut, Woman of the Hour, was met with huge praise in 2023.

Filmmakers Maggie Betts and Leslye Headland were both previously tied to the project, but both left for reasons unknown.

Novelist Taylor Jenkins Reid has been confirmed as executive producer, as well as Margaret Chernin.

The script was previously penned by Liz Tigelaar, but is now being revised by Francesca Sloane (Big Little Lies)

Netflix won the rights to the book in 2022, but has not yet started filming the highly-anticipated project.

The book follows legendary film actress Evenlyn Hugo, who reflects on her relentless rise to the top and the risks she took, the loves she lost, and the long-held secrets the public could never imagine.

Aging and reclusive Hollywood movie icon Evelyn Hugo is finally ready to tell the truth about her glamorous and scandalous life. But when she chooses unknown magazine reporter Monique Grant for the job, no one is more astounded than Monique herself. Why her? Why now? Monique is not exactly on top of the world. Her husband has left her, and her professional life is going nowhere.
