The best rom-com of the last ten years is on telly later and we’re buzzing

If you haven't seen About Time, what have you actually been doing with yourself?

The 2013 film is one of those watches that brings you to tears and makes you feel brilliant about life all at the same time. It boasts just the kind of cast you'd want in a rom-com, including Domhnall Gleeson, Rachel McAdam, Margot Robbie and a particular star turn from Bill Nighy. Domhnall plays Tim, a man who arguably has the most lovable onscreen family of all time. At the age of 21, Tim's dad breaks the news to him that the men in the family (bear with us) have the ability to travel through time. If you can't get on board with that, About Time probably won't do it for you but if you can just go with it, you won't regret it. After an ill-fated attempt to use his secret power to make his sister's friend Charlotte (Margot Robbie) fall in love with him, Tim moves to London. There, he meets lovely Mary (Rachel McAdams) and, well, we won't spoil any more than we have already, other than to say their relationship isn't actually the most important one in the film. If the movie feels comfortingly familiar, like a classic British romcom, that's probably because it's written and directed by Richard Curtis, the man behind Four Weddings and a Funeral, Notting Hill, Bridget Jones's Diary, and Love Actually. If you're in tonight, just do yourself a favour and watch it. You'll enjoy it. About Time is on Channel 4 at 11.10pm.
