The beloved BBC drama series returns to our screens this weekend and we couldn't be happier about it.

The wholesome but heartbreaking drama series enters its thirteenth year this January and viewers are in for a real treat.

'Call the Midwife' has constantly improved as the years have gone by. The show's incredible storylines, fantastic cast, and moving life lessons make it one of the strongest shows the BBC has ever produced and season 13 will be no different.

The new season of 'Call the Midwife' will air on Sunday, January 7th at 8:00 pm.

Sunday's episode promises to be as heartfelt and eye-opening as ever as the ladies of Nonnatus House enter 1969.

The synopsis reads:

"Sister Julienne cares for an expectant mother who has cerebral palsy. Nonnatus House kicks off its new midwifery training scheme with the arrival of four new pupil midwives."

The hour-long episode is certainly going to brighten the dark winter evenings, but be sure to have the tissues at the ready as season 13 will be quite an emotional watch.

Lead actors, Helen George and Olly Rix recently hinted that their characters are headed for trouble.

Nurse Trixie and Matthew haven't been married for long, but are the pair already having relationship issues?

Olly and Helen both confirmed to RadioTimes that the newlyweds are in for a rocky chapter this season.

Call the Midwife airs on BBC at 8 pm on Sunday.
