Can everyone give Beyoncé a break over her ‘wardrobe malfunction’?

Leave it, lads.

We don't often feel the need to defend Beyoncé because she's an absolute queen who needs no defending, but we have to speak up on this occasion.

She and hubby Jay Z stepped out in New York last night for Rihanna's Diamond Ball.

It was Bey's first event since giving birth in June and, needless to say, she looked flawless.

She made headlines this morning for a supposed 'wardrobe malfunction' but we can't understand what the big deal is.

Did her dress tear as she bent over? Did she whip off her bra at the table? Did her earring get so badly caught in her hair that Jay had to spend 20 minutes untangling it while she gave out to him for pulling at her extensions?

Nope.

She showed a bit of Spanx  - and certain outlets went in on her.

"Beyonce risks flashing EVERYTHING as she suffers EPIC wardrobe malfunction in split dress"

"Beyonce flashes her spanx as thigh-high split causes wardrobe malfunction just three months after giving birth to twins"

"Busty Beyonce accidentally flashes her Spanx as she grapples with her gown's VERY daring thigh-high split"

Like, no.

'Wardrobe malfunction' is one of the most sexist terms that is somehow still acceptable to use ("oh no, a part of the female body that we're not supposed to see has broken free from some clothing"), but that's for another rant.

The real issue is this - why, all of a sudden, is Spanx embarrassing?

Spanx is the bomb. Not feeling yourself in that body-con? Spanx.

Had a takeaway every day for a week? Spanx.

Prefer wearing actual knickers to having a string up your arse? Spanx.

We ladies get shamed for plenty of stuff, from our bodily functions to daring to question inequality (*sigh*) but shaming us for wearing big knickers? We're not having it.
