Dolly Parton secretly produced Buffy The Vampire Slayer and we can’t cope

This is not a drill.

I am a huge Buffy fan. I remember being so excited to watch the new episodes each week (though seeing as I was eight was it was released I was probably a bit too young for some storylines). As a die hard fan I thought I knew just about everything there was to know about Buffy The Vampire Slayer but I had no idea that iconic country singer Dolly Parton was part of the reason the show was brought to life. Sandollar Entertainment, which you might have noticed is listed on the end credits of every episode Buffy was created by Parton and her friend and former business partner Sandy Gallin in 1986. Parton and Gallin went on to produce several hit films under Sandollar Entertainment including Father of the Bride (1991) and Fly Away Home (1996), but they also produced TV Shows, one of which was Buffy The Vampire Slayer. According to Independent the company originally produced the Buffy movie which didn't do well during it's cinematic release but Sandollar still felt there was potential in the vampire slaying cheerleader. Gail Berman who was an executive at Sandollar suggested launching Buffy as a TV series and the rest is history. Buffy The Vampire Slayer went on to become one of the most successful TV shows of the 90s and early 2000s running for seven seasons and launching spin off show Angel. Even those who didn't watch Buffy during the 90s definitely heard of it but it wasn't until recently that anyone had any clue that Dolly Parton was connected to the show. With all the live music acts that were featured in the show, knowing now that Parton was a producer does make me wish she had done a little music cameo. Or even a re-release of Jolene but as Buffy. Hey I think it would work.
