Concluding his acceptance speech he said, "We made a film about the man who created the atomic bomb, and for better or for worse we're all living in Oppenheimer's world so I'd really like to dedicate this to the peacemakers everywhere. Go raibh mile maith agat," and we all wiped away a tear.
Robert Downey Jr. thanked both his wife and his tough childhood in a touching speech as he accepted the Actor in a Supporting Role award for his performance in Oppenheimer.
"I’d like to thank my terrible childhood and the Academy, in that order," he started.
After claps from the audience, the actor shifted the spotlight to his wife, of course with added humour for the fun of it.
"I'd like to thank my veterinarian – I mean, wife – Susan Downey over there. She found me a snarly rescue pet and she loved me back to life," he said. "That’s why I’m here."
Were there a lot of iconic fashion moments? Yes, but this one for the team behind Godzilla Minus One takes the cake.
The gang, who were nominated for Best Visual Effects, showed up to the Oscars in coordinating monstrous footwear: black heels shaped like clawed feet.
Ryan Gosling put on the performance of a lifetime with his rendition of I'm Just Ken.
At one point during the performance, legendary guitarist Slash got up next to him and played. Toward the end, Ryan descended the stage and passed the mic to his Barbie family.
He also let longtime friend and La La Land costar Emma Stone sing a part.
Billie Eilish picked up the gong for Best Song on Sunday and during her acceptance speech, took the opportunity to make a hilarious dig at her choir teacher.
The singer gave credit to of her singing teachers saying, "I want to thank my choir teachers… Miss T, you didn't like me but you were good at your job."
