Eight things you may have missed from the Oscars

The Oscars just happened last night and it's fair to say it was a jam-packed show

From Ryan Gosling serving big Kenergy, to Cillian Murphy using his cuplá focal, here are eight Oscars moments you may have missed in the mayhem.

John Cena in the nip

Though the WWE star is known for saying "You can't see me" we got to see nearly all of him last night.

John sidled onstage entirely naked, other than a pair of Birkenstocks, to present the Best Costume Design award, which ultimately went to Poor Things.

While at the mic in front of the celebrity crowd, the wrestler joked about the importance of clothes, before, eventually, host Jimmy Kimmel threw him a gown to cover himself up with.

Liza Koshy took a tumble

When you pair big ballgowns and sky-high heels, a tumble is understandable.

Liza Koshy walked down the carpet in a dramatic red off-the-shoulder Marchesa gown and massive platform heels but the heels proved to be her downfall. (Sorry that was an easy one.)

Yet she didn't seem to hurt her funny bone as the actress was laughing the whole time and was soon back on her feet.

Messi the dog

Messi the dog, who starred as emotional support dog Snoop in Anatomy of a Fall, almost stole the show with his surprise appearance at the star-studded event. 

In a hilarious moment, the four-legged star appeared to be clapping for Robert Downey Jr after the Oppenheimer star's Best Supporting Actor win.

Cillian Murphy remembers his Leaving Cert Irish oral

Firstly, we don't think we've ever seen the Cork man smile so much well ever, he couldn't seem to get the cheesy grin off his face.

Yet it was the moment that he pulled out his cuplá focal that had us all proud and ready to break out the Duolingo once more.

Concluding his acceptance speech he said, "We made a film about the man who created the atomic bomb, and for better or for worse we're all living in Oppenheimer's world so I'd really like to dedicate this to the peacemakers everywhere. Go raibh mile maith agat," and we all wiped away a tear.

Robert Downey Jr's iconic acceptance speech

Robert Downey Jr. thanked both his wife and his tough childhood in a touching speech as he accepted the Actor in a Supporting Role award for his performance in Oppenheimer. 

"I’d like to thank my terrible childhood and the Academy, in that order," he started.

After claps from the audience, the actor shifted the spotlight to his wife, of course with added humour for the fun of it.

"I'd like to thank my veterinarian – I mean, wife – Susan Downey over there. She found me a snarly rescue pet and she loved me back to life," he said. "That’s why I’m here."

The Godzilla gang and their heels

Were there a lot of iconic fashion moments? Yes, but this one for the team behind Godzilla Minus One takes the cake.

The gang, who were nominated for Best Visual Effects, showed up to the Oscars in coordinating monstrous footwear: black heels shaped like clawed feet.

Ryan Gosling put on the performance of a lifetime with his rendition of I'm Just Ken.

At one point during the performance, legendary guitarist Slash got up next to him and played. Toward the end, Ryan descended the stage and passed the mic to his Barbie family.

He also let longtime friend and La La Land costar Emma Stone sing a part.

Billie Eilish gives a shout-out

Billie Eilish picked up the gong for Best Song on Sunday and during her acceptance speech, took the opportunity to make a hilarious dig at her choir teacher. 

The singer gave credit to of her singing teachers saying, "I want to thank my choir teachers… Miss T, you didn't like me but you were good at your job."
