Emilia Clarke hopes the cancelled Game of Thrones prequel can be ‘reincarnated’

Emilia Clarke has admitted she hopes the cancelled Game of Thrones prequel can be 'reincarnated' some day. On Tuesday, it was announced that one of the two prequels for Thrones - an untitled series from Jane Goldman set thousands of years before the events of the A Song of Ice And Fire series, It was set to explore the world's descent from the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour. Naomi Watts, John Simm, Miranda Richardson and Marquis Rodriguez were all set to star - and the pilot filmed in Northern Ireland over the summer. Emilia Clarke weighed in on the project as she spoke to Entertainment Tonight at the New York premiere of her new film, Last Christmas.  "I'm not really too sure [what happened]," she said. "It's difficult to get stuff made. I wonder. Maybe it'll be reincarnated at some point, but if it wasn't meant to happen now, then I'm sure it's because they know that it wasn't going to be as perfect as it should have been." Following the news of the Goldman prequel not being picked up, HBO announced a Targaryen-centred spin-off, House of the Dragon, had been given a full-series order. The new series, which will be set 300 years before the events of the aforementioned show, will tell the story of the Targaryens in Westeros, long before the Mad King, Daenerys's reign, and her eventual fall from grace. Series one will have 10 episodes and will be co-produced by Game of Thrones author George RR Martin, as well as Ryan Condal and Miguel Sapochnik.
