It was a long-held belief that the film's icy magazine editor Miranda Priestly was inspired by author Lauren Weisberger's time as an assistant for the 69-year-old Vogue editor, Anna Wintour.
While that may be the case for the book version of the Runway editor, it's not the case for the big-screen adaptation - at least, according to Emily Blunt.
The actress recently appeared in an NPR podcast, promoting her new film Mary Poppins Returns, where she spoke about the beloved 2006 film.
She explained that Meryl Streep's inspiration for the role didn't actually come from Wintour, adding:
"Meryl didn't actually base it on Anna Wintour - well, she told Anna that. "She based it on two men in Hollywood that she knew - who will remain nameless, but I know who they are."That's all.
