Speaking about ending the series, creator Marta Kauffman told Entertainment Weekly:
"The show was always at its heart about starting your life over at any point, and the fact that these women were in this age group just added to the urgency of starting over. But we didn't set out to do literally a show about two older women.
"They just happened to be older women who were going through this, and then we got to explore all the stuff about sexuality and vaginas and all that stuff. We were able to explore all of that because of the age of them."
She added that she hopes viewers will "feel like they've been on a fulfilling journey" after the final episode.
With a soon-to-be 94 episodes over the course of seven seasons, Grace and Frankie is now Netflix's longest running series.
Season seven part two premieres Friday 29 April on Netflix.
