Grey’s Anatomy have revealed a new love interest for Meredith Grey (and he’s very familiar)

Looks like love is in the air at Grey Sloan Memorial.

Grey's Anatomy have confirmed a new love interest for Meredith Grey - and he's a very familiar face for fans of How I Met Your Mother.  A sneak peek for  the episode airing tonight [Thursday, October 11] in the United States shows Meredith getting ready for a blind date while she's at work. And the other doctors are, naturally, curious as to who it could be - or, at least, what's going on. Her sister-in-law, Dr. Amelia Shepard, walks into the room and and asks her, "what happened? Do you have a funeral?" And Dr. Alex Karev follows suit, remarking: "What's wrong with you? You look weird." Dr. Maggie Pierce is the only one who realises what's happening, chiming in: "oh my god, you have a date." According to PEOPLE, the mystery man in question is played by Josh Radnor - better known to How I Met Your Mother fans as Ted Mosby. Showrunner Krista Vernoff announced in August that Meredith would be getting a new love interest in season 15, and that she would "very much be part of our Season of Love." She told TV Line at the time:

"Yes, [Meredith]'s a single mom, and that complicates a dating life. And yes, she's a surgical marvel with new, game-changing medical ideas she'll be pursuing. But she also hasn't dated at all since Nathan Riggs left. And the one-two punch of meeting Nick Marsh awoke a desire in her that she can't put back to sleep.

"The question this season is not, 'Will Meredith Grey find love again?', but 'With whom will she find love?'."
