The Haunting of Hill House creator says season two will be ‘much scarier’

The Haunting of Hill House creator has said that season two of the horror Netflix anthology will be "mjuch scarier" than the last. And season one was pretty terrifying, in fairness. Mike Flanagan has said that the scares of the much loved first season are still going to be there, but that ultimately Hill House season two is going to be quite a different show. “We’re looking at all the ghost stories of Henry James as the jumping-off point for the season, so it very much is a whole new deal,” he told Birth Movies Death.  “It’s a cool way to expand on some of the things I loved about Season one, but within the framework of a new story, without having to be restrained by the decisions we made last time.” The second season of the show will take inspiration from James's 1898 novella, Turn Of The Screw.  Called The Haunting of Bly Manor, the series will reimagine the most terrifying aspects of the author's work and present them to an entirely new audience. “For Henry James fans, it’s going to be pretty wild, and for people who aren’t familiar with his work, it’s going to be unbelievably scary," he said. "I already think it’s much scarier than season  one, so I’m very excited about it.” Same, tbh. The Haunting of Bly Manor is set to arrive on Netflix in 2020. Variety report that the streaming giant have inked a "multi-year" overall deal with the series creator Flanagan and executive producer Trevor Macy.
