Here’s everything you need to know about Will Ferrell’s Eurovision film

Because yes, it is happening.

The Eurovision Song Contest is like marmite - you either love it, hate it, or force your friends to engage with it while  mercilessly doing a shot every time somebody plays the trombone while juggling seven microphones. And while we already informed you all a few weeks back that yes, a Eurovision movie called Eurovision is indeed happening, and that yes, Pierce Brosnan, Will Ferrell, and Rachel McAdams are going to be starring, it hadn't been confirmed by Netflix yet. And now it has - so we can finally start getting excited. Or dread the day it drops onto our screens. Either or. Starring the aforementioned celebrities - as well as new addition Dan Stevens - the film will follow aspiring Icelandic musicians, Lars Erickssong and Sigrit Ericksdottir, and Russian singer Alexander Lemtov as they battle it out to become the winners of the Eurovision. There will be blood, there will be sweat, and there will most certainly be tears, as the parody movie takes audiences on a wild ride of betrayal, friendship, and bangin' tunes. Oh, and Pierce Brosnan is also going to be playing Erick Erickssong, Lars' father and "the most handsome man in Iceland." So, you know, lots to consider. "When aspiring musicians Lars and Sigrit are given the opportunity of a lifetime to represent their country at the world’s biggest song competition," reads the plot summary, "they finally have a chance to prove that any dream worth having is a dream worth fighting for." Sounds like pretty much everything we had expected from this film, to be honest. Eurovision is directed by David Dobkin and produced by Adam McKay. Ferrell is also credited as a writer and producer. The move is currently in production in Iceland and the UK, which means that it should be getting a 2020 release, God willing. Douze points, all round.
