Ireland failed to qualify for the Eurovision final at the semi-finals on Thursday night.
While Brooke Scullion delivered an energetic and promising performance of her song That's Rich, she was unable to secure enough votes to make it through to Saturday night's big event. She was the tenth act to take to the stage at the Pala Olimpico in Turin Italy, with a total of 18 countries competing for 10 places in the final. Acts that will progress to the final include Belgium, Czech Republic, Azerbaijan, Poland, Finland, Estonia, Australia, Sweden, Romania and Serbia. Following the results, Brooke took to Twitter to share a clip from her performance, saying she would never forget the night, "Beyond proud of this experience, thank you to my wonderful team. I will never forget @eurovision," she wrote. "Onto the next." https://twitter.com/Brooke_Scullion/status/1524878404150910976 People took to Twitter to share their reactions to the results. "How did Ireland not go through?!! That was an absolute bop!! Robbed!" one person said. "What a load of sh*te... of all years Ireland definitely deserved to qualify this year. We had a better song and better Artist than half of those who went through. Well done to Brooke though she gave it everything,"another said. "Something shifty happened there, Brooke was THE main character of this year's Eurovision, amazing peformance, show me each and every jury members votes, this is insane," a third added, https://twitter.com/aoifedevirgo/status/1524862179186556941 A fourth wrote: "Call me biased but Ireland deserved their place in the final after that performance. In a ballad heavy year That's Rich is the banger we deserve and Brooke works that stage like she's been doing it for twenty years." Ireland still remains the most successful country in Eurovision history, with seven wins. The Eurovision Song Contest Final takes place on Saturday 14 May at 8pm on RTÉ One, RTÉ Player and RTÉ Radio 1.Anna Kendrick to direct The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo adaptation
