Speaking about her time working with Matthew on the film during a Life In Pictures talk at BAFTA in London last week, Kate revealed that she initially disagreed with studio executives about how the film should look.
“I’m such a cheerleader for actors in our industry, but for rom-coms you need that guy to have chemistry with,” she told moderator Briony Hanson, director of film for the British Council.
And when it came to casting for the role, Kate said that the creators "just kept hitting [their] heads against the wall", explaining: "The studio and I weren’t agreeing.”
Going on to recall that she "fought back on a lot of things" and she ended up gaining "approval of everything", it wasn't until former Paramount Pictures CEO Sherry Lansing reportedly asked who she wanted to play opposite, she suggested Matthew.
