Kerry native, Jessie Buckley to star in highly anticipated Sky series ‘Chernobyl’

BAFTA nominated actress, Jessie Buckley is set to star in a brand new series coming to Sky Atlantic.

Based on the Chernobyl nuclear disaster, this high-end, five-part mini-series will see a stellar lineup take to our screens including Jessie Buckley and Dubliner, Barry Keoghan, for what is set to be a gripping yet addictive watch. This will be the first drama from Sky as part of their co-production deal with HBO and will air on Sky Atlantic. In the series, Jessie will play Lyudmilla Ignatenko - a courageous woman whose husband was one of the firefighters during the 1986 nuclear accident. "Her story is one of dangerous, passionate love and loss.  The responsibility to tell this as honestly and as sensitively and as provocatively as possible was terrifying.”

Jessie also noted and praised Adi Roche, a well-known Chernobyl activist who helped her fully immerse herself in this new role. Aside from that, the Sky event showed a wreath of promising shows heading to our screens in the next coming months including Brassic starring Michelle Keegan and Damien Molony, a new series of the already popular tale of lavish life and scandal on the Cotê d'Azur, Riviera, and lastly, the final season of Game of Thrones *sob*.
