Laura and Paul’s final speeches on tonight’s Love Island are just a bit tragic

Well, here we are.

The end of Love Island 2018 and Laura and Paul have been crowned our winners. Just kidding! They absolutely haven't been because that would be stupid and absolutely impossible. Not because they don't have any future together or anything - just because they've barely known each other two weeks and Paul seems painfully disinterested in the whole situation and also because they, eh, don't really have a future together. Called it, sorry 'bout it, time to stop lying to ourselves. During tonight's show, the remaining couples will do some lovely things for each other including having a salsa dance and professing their love for one another via some nice speeches. And while everybody else talks about undying love, moving in together, and finding sole mates, Laura's and Paul's speeches are a bit less... intense. And compared to the other couples', they're just a bit tragic really. Laura says:

“Paul, I just want to start by saying thank you for being you. Having been in the villa since day one, it’s fair to say I’ve had an emotional ride in here. "Finally it felt like someone for me had walked through the door and after being given the chance to get to know you, I truly fancy you more and more each day."

You fancy him, OK cool, well Jack's over there bawling crying because he's so in love but yeah alright grand, good luck. And in response, Paul says:

“Walking through the villa doors, I was intrigued to find out who Laura really is. I look at you and know I’m only touching the surface and yet to discover an endless list of incredible things about you.”

Cool. You gonna mention those incredible things or...? No? OK. Like, have the two of you ever had a conversation or what's happening here? Without being too hard on the pair (we are absolutely being too hard on the pair), it must be difficult to be in the final of Love Island with a load of people who do actually love each other very, very much. There are, after all, a limit on the number 0f things Laura and Paul can profess to one another considering they aren't even in a relationship. They gave it their best shot, we guess. The Love Island finale airs tonight at 9pm on 3e.
