Love Island bosses hire armed guards for the winter villa amid ‘kidnapping’ fears

They're taking their security up a notch.

Love Island bosses are taking no risks by having the winter series of the popular ITV show in Cape Town, South Africa. It is reported that the show is taking all necessary precautions and so, they've hired armed guards to patrol the villa and surrounding area at all times.

"It’s been arranged for armed guards to patrol the compound throughout the series. They will have them surrounding the area so there is no chance of any breaches" a source told the Daily Star Sunday.

Continuing, they said:

"If it’s known to everyone in the area that a big TV show is in town, then it will become a target. There are concerns there could be kidnap attempts if things aren’t done carefully."

ITV being aware of these fears want to make sure the Islanders are safe and feel safe at all time and so, are taking these measures for them and for their peace of mind. Love Island returns on January 12 with brand new host, Laura Whitmore. Following Caroline Flack's assault charges, the former host has jetted off to Los Angeles for some time away from the spotlight as she awaits her next court hearing in March. The 40-year-old was also cut from the new winter trailer which saw her say: "Sorry winter, you're just not our type." Laura on the other hand is beyond excited to take on the role, leading the show into a new season alongside boyfriend and VO guy, Iain Stirling.
