These are the Love Island contestants who actually applied to go on the show

There were 36 Love Island contestants this year.

But it turns out that only six of them - yes, really - actually used to the application process to get their spot on the show. According to reports, 24 Islanders were approached by producers - and six of them had agents who got them on the show. Amy Hart, Michael Griffiths, Joe Garratt and Ovie Soko were among those who actually submitted their own applications, according to The Mirror.  However, the other two Islanders who applied to go on the show are still a mystery. Love Island winner Amber Gill and fellow OG Islander Sherif Lanre were both said to be scouted by producers. And Curtis Pritchard, as well as Tommy Fury, both had agents before being cast in the show. An ITV source told the publication:

"Having agents beforehand can be beneficial for the contestants, as they've got a better understanding of what to expect when they come off the show."

However, a Love Island spokesperson said in a statement that they are "very transparent" about how they find contestants for the show. They added that everyone "who is seen for the show goes through exactly the same process." In a statement to Metro, they said:

"We are very transparent about how we find people for the show, and whether they are invited to audition or apply themselves, everyone who is seen for the show goes through exactly the same process."
