The second single lifted from her debut solo album 'Read My Lips' peaked at number two upon release in 2001 and helped solidify Sophie's pop star status.
It is now predicted that when the new Big Top 40 chart is released on Sunday, 'Murder On The Dancefloor' will be in the 20s.
On top of this, Gen Z have discovered the track and sent it up the Spotify charts bringing it to the edge of breaking into the top 10.
When the tune was released it was close to taking the number one spot but was narrowly beaten out by Daniel Bedingfield's 'Gotta Get Thru This'.
Fans on X, formerly Twitter, argued that the song should have been number one the first time around but at least it's getting justice.
"Should have been number 1 first time around but it's had longevity. It never gets old!" penned one while another agreed adding, "Yes, should absolutely have been number one the first time round. Love that this is happening!"
Sophie seemed to be feeling the hype herself as she made her own version of the 'Saltburn' ending scene, dancing around on a staircase in a sequin dress.
Speaking to Pink News about her song being chosen for the flick, the singer said: "I really loved the movie. It's funny because whenever you get asked about having a song involved in something, you always get a tiny synopsis or rough idea of placement.
"I just thought it was brilliant. It's so beautifully shot. The script is bouncy and fun and sharp and witty, and then you get someone dancing full frontal nude to my song.
"I can't wait for more people to see it. It's quite an unexpected moment."
You can say that again Sophie.
