The singer released Torn in 1997.
The 40-year-old told ABC News that after a six-year break from the spotlight, she is ready to give her music another shot.
Speaking about the album, she said: “It’s very vocally driven. It’s very reflective. It’s a classic production, so there are no electronic sounds or gimmicky things like that.
“It’s about the songs. It’s for people who like storytelling type songs and who like love songs.”
The star took a six-year-break from the spotlight.
Male is a collection of reimagined tracks which were originally performed by men, including songs by Damien Rice and The Cure.
The Australian singer became a household name following the release of her iconic break-up balled Torn in 1997.
However, she soon decided that the limelight wasn't for her and disappeared almost as quickly as she appeared.
Natalie judged the Australian X Factor alongside Ronan Keating.
The former X Factor judge said that it was when she returned to the stage that she realised how much she'd missed it.
She admitted: "I was in Vienna recently and I did a festival and it was 80,000 people. And I don’t know how I missed that bit. But I didn’t really realize until I walked on stage. And there was a sea of people.
"And I thought, bizarrely this feels like home."
