Netflix’s new show is the perfect middle ground between Narcos and Ozark

There goes another weekend, sacrificed at the altar of the Bingeing Gods.

Netflix has made some fantastic shows while revelling in the darkest corners of humanity. Think of the corrupt Central and South American gangs of Narcos, or the money-smuggling thriller aspects of Ozark. For their new show The Mechanism, they'll be merging those two together. Across the new series we'll be caught up alongside a small group of dogged investigators on the hunt to discover the inner workings of the biggest corruption scheme of all time and the impact their pursuit will have on everyone involved - including themselves. The show is produced by Jose Padilha (the same guy behind Narcos), and the trailer (which you can check below) is absolutely nail-biting stuff. All episodes of The Mechanism will be available to watch of Netflix from Friday 23 March. The reason why Jose Padilha was only producer on The Mechanism, and not helping out in the director's chair (as far as we know, the full directors roster hasn't been released yet) is because he was busy on his new movie. His follow up to 2014's Robocop remake is a true-life kidnap thriller 7 Days In Entebbe starring Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl) and Daniel Bruhl (Captain America: Civil War) The movie is based on the true events of the 1976 hijacking of an Air France flight en route from Tel Aviv to Paris, and the most daring rescue mission ever attempted, and is due in cinemas here on Friday 9 March. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=13OtvUxOcUU
