People are only just finding out why Will Smith’s kids are called Jaden and Willow

'I was today years old when I put 2 and 2 together'

Will Smith is one of the most famous faces in the world, and his family have gone on to become one of the most famous in the world as well.

The Oscar-winning actor is married to Jada Pinkett Smith, with the couple having married in 1997. However, their relationship has made countless headlines in recent years, ever since that infamous Red Table Talk episode.

Last year, Jada revealed the couple have been separated since 2016. This revelation came after Smith slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars for a joke the comedian made about his wife.

The couple have two children together, Jaden, 25, and Willow, 23, whilst the I Am Legend actor also shares a son, Trey, 31, with Sheree Zampino.

After starring alongside his dad in films such as The Pursuit of Happyness and After Earth, Jaden has gone on to forge a career as a rapper.

Meanwhile, Willow is best known for her music career, having had smash hits with Whip My Hair, Wait a Minute and Meet Me At Our Spot.

Whilst the family are often in the headlines, it seems many have never questioned why Jaden and Willow were given the names they were by their parents.

But some reckon they've worked out the meaning behind the names, and it's left them stunned.

They theorised on X that the names are actually a clever gender-swapped variations of their parents.

So Willow is named after her father Will and Jaden is named after his mother Jada.

One person wrote on social media: "Every now and then I remember that Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith actively decided to give their kids gender swapped versions of their own names (Willow and Jaden)"

Another said: "Did Jada Pinkett-Smith and Will Smith name their kids based off their one names; like Will = Willow & Jada = Jaden?"

A third commented: "I just realised Will Smith & Jada named their kids their own names with a few extra letters…. Jaiden & Willow… holy s**t."

"I was today years old when I put 2 and 2 together about Will Smith's kids' names," a fourth penned, adding that they were "mind blown."
