Add us as a preferred source on Google »We're getting closer and closer to Valentine's Day which makes it the perfect time to start re-watching your favourite rom-coms over and over again.
I would easily watch nothing but 'When Harry Met Sally', 'Bridget Jones's Diary' and 'Notting Hill' forever. I know I should care about Oscar-winning movies and gripping new releases, but rom-coms will always come out on top.
The recent release of Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney's movie 'Anyone But You' gave me a new love for the genre. It reminded me of what I love about rom-coms and why they're just so special.
'Anyone But You' had everything a good rom-com needs from the charming leads, a perfect soundtrack, an enemies-lovers plot, and a hilarious supporting cast.
Seeing a rom-com on the big screen felt like we'd taken a step back in time to the days when rom-coms ruled the movie world.
Whether we watch them in the cinema or at home, rom-coms will always hold a special place in my heart.
They're heartwarming, there's always a happy ending, and they never fail to make you forget about real life for a while.
A study has found that re-watching your favourite rom-com is actually good for you.
The study analysed 87 college students' attitudes and morals for five weeks. Psychologist Jonathan Haidt split the group into different film genres with one quarter watching only romantic comedies.
After five weeks, the study found that the group who just watched rom-coms were more loyal, acted more fairly, and had a better respect for authority.
So next time someone judges you for crying over Julia Roberts' speech in 'Notting Hill' or reciting Harry's New Year's Eve speech in 'When Harry Met Sally', ignore them. Rom-coms make you a better person.
If anyone needs me I'll be watching 'The Proposal' for the twentieth time.
