RTÉ are on the hunt for a new Fair City set photographer and they’re offering €60k

The photographer would need to deliver 16 photographs per week.

Earlier this week, it was revealed that Kevin Bakhurst, the new Director General of RTÉ, had a strong reaction to the news that the on-set photographer for Fair City was being paid €80,000 per year to take 16 still photographs from show's set. Within the same week, RTÉ have released a public job search for the new Fair City on-set photographer, revealing that the new employee will be paid €60,000 per year, or €240,000 for a four-year contract.

The job listing specifies that the successful candidate will need to perform the following tasks:

• Deliver a minimum of 16 approved photograph stills in both high and low resolution to Fair City each week, for 50 weeks per year, as specified by RTÉ.
• Be on set or on location an average of 20 hours per week over the course of three days. Occasional weekend and night shift work maybe required.

On the job position, Brigie de Courcy, the Executive Producer for Fair City, said: "I cannot overstate the importance of high quality, highly curated photography in promoting Fair City in the busy landscape of press and digital publicity. It is vital to have a skilled photographer to capture, in single frames, moments of drama that will intrigue our regular audience, and bring new viewers to Fair City." From the official RTÉ statement, they also further explained the importance of this position:

"Popular soaps, such as Fair City, with multiple characters and multiple unfolding storylines have a sustained need for high quality imagery across the year. This imagery is then used across a variety of media outlets to help drive audiences to the show as viewers can now decide 'what to watch' based on the promotional image that appears on their platform."
