The rumoured X Factor spin-off sounds SO nasty

The X Factor has long been a Saturday night telly staple and, for many of us, the auditions are the best part of the whole series. We, the viewing public, get to find out someone’s life story in 90 seconds and then judge them on their ability to belt out a bit of Celine Dion – what’s not to love? This part of the competition always brings some unusual characters into the public eye, but have you ever wondered what happens when Mick from Hull gets four ‘no’s and heads back to his job at Asda? Well, X Factor producers are apparently aiming to bring rejected contestants back to the small screen in a new spin-off. The Sun is reporting that Simon Cowell wants a new show to follow around the acts that don’t make it past the auditions in a series alongside the original weekly show, where they'll compete against each other to be crowned the 'biggest improver'. The Chase presenter Bradley Walsh is said to be the favourite to take up presenting duties for the show. A source said:

"It has always been the bad auditions that get everyone talking on X Factor each year. Another thing people love to watch on TV is people undergoing huge transformations. Now ITV will combine these two things as they launch a new show which sees awful singers transform into superstar performers — or that's what they're hoping.”

ITV is yet to confirm the spin-off but we’re hoping this is nothing more than a rumour. The main X Factor show is gladiatorial enough in offering vulnerable people as cannon fodder for viewers to laugh at, so putting dropped contestants together in one show just seems cruel.
