Rom-coms have always mattered; Hollywood just failed to treat them right In Love Actually, Hugh Grant thinks of the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport when he feels gloomy about the state of the world, but when reality is starting to get to me, I turn to rom-coms, especially ones like the Richard Curtis classic. Rom-coms […]

Ah period dramas, they're the on-screen equivalent of a hot water bottle and a cup of tea and it seems the OG of costume-rich productions has had quite enough of the Bridgerton frenzy, and is preparing an almighty comeback.
Fans will be glad to hear that a second Downton Abbey movie is on the cards, with whisperings of a script already doing the rounds. Hugh Bonneville, also known as Lord Grantham, announced in a BBC radio interview recently that they would "love" to see another film be made.
Bonneville went so far as to reveal that he's had a sneaky look at a script, "Here's the deal, if everyone who is offered a vaccine takes one, we can make a film, we will make a film. We'd love to do it, we're desperate to do it, and I think it’s the sort of pleasurable release of a movie like the first one was, that audiences would enjoy after all of this mess we have been through."
Set in 1927, the first film was released with resounding acclaim in 2019, and chronicled the Crawleys attempts to prepare for a visit from King George V and Queen Mary. Fans argued at the time that the film actually brought up more questions than it answered, leaving the door wide open for a second movie.
We don't have any indication as to when production could start on such a project, but if nothing else it's a great excuse to dive back into 20th century England and watch the entire series again.
