“Secrets Come Out” – EastEnders Star Talks About Onscreen Proposal

EastEnders star Ben Hardy has spoken out about his character’s decision to pop the question to his girlfriend. The actor has admitted that while he thinks his onscreen alter ego Peter Beale is a bit young to ask Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa) to marry him, his heart is in the right place. “I think he’s a bit young, but Peter’s a bit of a romantic… and he thinks Lauren is the one,” he explained to Digital Spy. “Peter also wants a new chapter after the whole Lucy thing, so he sees it as a way of starting afresh. So he thinks, ‘I’ll propose to Lauren and this will be my new adventure and I can stop thinking about Lucy.” Peter decides to pop the question to girlfriend Lauren. Ben also revealed during the interview that Peter's plans don’t go smoothly. He teased: “Secrets come out involving the Beales. That’s as much as I can say.” As for Lauren’s answer, viewers will have to wait and see: “Because of the commotion that happens during the proposal, that interrupts everything after Peter has asked the question. Peter has to deal with something in the Beale household and then come back to find out Lauren’s answer.”
