Sex Education season 4 will see its first transgender couple on the show

The upcoming series is set to start shooting early next year.

The third season of Sex Education may have only premiered in September, but we are already dying to see what season 4 has in store. Creators of the Netflix show have just revealed that fans will get to meet two new characters - Abbi and Kent. Abbi is described as a "sunny, magnetic, generous and loyal" young woman with a "90s Winona Ryder vibe" who aims become the queen bee of the gang. Abbi has had a difficult time with her family, who kicked her out because she was trans. She now lives with her boyfriend Kent - who's family is much more accepting. Kent is described as "goofy, forgetful and a great listener". Unlike Abbi, he doesn't have any ambitions to become one of the popular kids and seems more focused on his last year of school. The two are loved by all and are said to be the exact definition of couple goals. Sex Education previously introduced its first non-binary character in season 3, Cal Bowman, who was played by singer and actor Dua Saleh. The casting call also hinted at when we can expect to see our favourite Moordale School pupils back in action. It revealed that shooting will be taking place in Wales some time between April and November 2022, meaning we should expect the show to premiere sometime in early 2023 - or possibly late 2022 if we're lucky. As well as exploring being transgender, the new season will update us on how Otis' mum and well-known sex therapist Jean Milburn is adapting to life with her new baby Joy - as well as diving into Maeve and Otis' complicated relationship again.
