RuPaul's Drag Race co-star Michelle Visage celebrated the news this week on social media, saying: "This. Is NOT. A drill. @nbcsnl @rupaulofficial hosting !! RU IS HOSTING SNL! FINALLY! OMFGGGGG."
Same, tbh.
Ru had previously met SNL producer Lorne Michaels backstage at the Emmys in 2018. On his podcast, he recalled having a conversation with Michaels that did appear to suggest a hosting gig would be in the pipeline.
According to RuPaul, Michaels said: "I'm a fan of your work. Congratulations. We’ll continue this conversation real soon."
RuPaul's Drag Race is currently in its 11th season, having recently been renewed for a 12th and 13th.
The reality show has amassed a cult following around the world, with several spin off series also being produced including RuPaul's Drag Race UK, RuPaul's Drag Race Thailand, and RuPaul's Drag Race: All Stars.
All 11 seasons of the main show are currently available to stream on Netflix.
