After the recent controversy about the all-white acting nominations for this year's Oscars, it has been reported that the Academy will be announcing new diversity measures as early as next week.
According to The New York Times, changes may include a return to a ten film list of Best Picture nominees to allow for more films to enter the fray, and increasing the amount of potential nominees for the acting categories.
This comes after Academy President Cheryl Boone Isaacs made a statement about improving diversity in Hollywood.
The Academy voting panel has historically consisted of a majority of white older men, so many say that the nominees have been skewed to reflect the tastes of a single demographic, and doesn't match up to the diverse groups of people watching and making films.
The ceremony this year is due to take place on February 28th, and will be hosted by comedian Chris Rock.
