To be honest, we had just assumed it was dust. After all, the entire Hogwarts castle was collapsing/in rubble, so it seemed like a pretty safe guess.
However, it turns out it wasn't dust - it was a purposeful decision.
The official Wizarding World Instagram account revealed earlier this month that the decision was made to make it seem like he was "slowly fading away".
"Did you know? In the Harry Potter films, Voldemort's robes faded in colour every time a Horcrux was destroyed, to give the impression he was slowly fading away," they wrote.
And judging from the Harry Potter fans' reactions to the post, it seems like we weren't the only ones who never noticed this detail.
"Now we need to watch these all over again to spot this," one person said, while another added, "So cool! I don’t think I ever noticed that."
