The Grey’s Anatomy spin-off doesn’t have a title (for a hilarious reason)

It officially hits the small screen later this year.

But the Grey's Anatomy spin-off still doesn't have a name - and it's all because of another TV show. The ABC drama will debut on March 22 in the United States, and will follow the lives of fire fighters (including Dr Ben Warren, who will be swapping his scrubs for firefighter gear). And while the Shondaland universe is getting ready to expand once again in just 10 weeks, the show still doesn't have a title - and probably won't for another few weeks. As for the reason why? It's in part due to another show: Chicago Fire.  According to Entertainment Weekly, network president Channing Dungey told reporters this week:

“The truth of the matter is coming up with a title is one of the most challenging things we do. “We’ve gone through a number of different options and ideas. "We want to make sure what we stick on it is the perfect piece.”

The show is unofficially being called 'the Grey's Anatomy spin-off', which, according to Dungey, makes the last minute wait a little easier since the medical drama has such name recognition. One person questioned if Chicago Fire, a NBC soap that also follows the lives of firefighters, had anything to do with the delay. Dungey confirmed it, before adding:

“That would be the main reason we’re not going to call it Seattle Fire."

The new name for the show should be figured out "in the next couple of weeks".
