Turns out Harry Potter’s scar isn’t actually in the shape of a lightning bolt

Yes, you read that correctly.

It's one of the most recognisable things about Harry Potter. But it turns out that the Boy Who Lived's lightning bolt shaped scar may actually be shaped like something else entirely. Harry had the scar for pretty much his entire life, after Voldemort tried to kill him when he was just a baby. As a result of Lily Evans Potter's sacrifice and protection, the Killing Curse that He Who Must Not Be Named used on Harry bounced back - getting him instead. It left the then-baby Harry with a scar that appeared to take the shape of a lightning bolt. However, a Twitter account pointed out earlier this year that the boy wizard's marking on his forehead may be something else - the hand motion to cast Avada Kedavra. https://twitter.com/todayyearsoldig/status/1083172601214656513 The post was originally shared back in January, but considering today would have been Harry's 39th birthday (if, y'know, he was real), we figured there's no better time to bring it back. Today Years Old shared a photo of Harry lifting up his hair to show his scar alongside a screen grab from the Harry Potter Wiki entry on the killing curse. The listing includes a diagram of the hand movement used to cast the spell - which, OK, is very similar to the shape of Harry's scar. Many fans replied to the message to acknowledge the "strange fact", although one person was quick to clarify that the scar is actually both a lightning bolt and the curse. Which makes even more sense, if you ask us.
