Fans of Delia Owens' best-selling novel Where the Crawdads Sing will be delighted to know that the first official trailer for the film adaption is here. The movie, which is one of the most highly-anticipated films of 2022, stars Daisy Edgar-Jones (yes, of Normal People fame) as Kya, an isolated young girl who grows up alone in the marsh of North Carolina. The feature-length film also stars Harris Dickinson (Beach Rats, Trust) as Chase Andrews and Taylor John Smith (Almost Friends, Wolves) as Tate. As well as telling Kya's story, Where the Crawdads Sing has a secondary plot involving the murder investigation of one of the town's local celebrities. Daisy shared the film's trailer to her own Instagram page, and said that her heart is "so full". Another wrote: "CAN. NOT. WAIT!" A third shared: "MY ACTUAL HEART. Oh my god Daisy!!!! This looks phenomenal." Other fans noticed that the film will feature an original Taylor Swift song. "OMFG TAYLOR'S SONG?????" one commented. Another said: "original song from Taylor Swift!!!!!!" In another grid post from Daisy, the actress shared the film's poster and wrote: "Every creature does what it must to survive." When the novel was released in 2018, it became an instant modern classic and stood on top of the New York Times Fiction Best Sellers of 2019 and 2020 for 32 non-consecutive weeks. Reese Witherspoon picked it for her Hello Sunshine Book Club in September 2018, and the legendary actress subsequently came on board as the movie's producer alongside Lauren Neustadter.
