This year’s Love Island set to be longest yet

Finally, some good news.

Love Island is something we wait all year for and once it's on our screens, we want those eight weeks of drama to stay forever. So you can only imagine how thrilled we were to get wind that the hit ITV2 dating series is set to be longer than ever this year. The 2022 series will see the newest cast in the villa for a whopping 10 weeks, an extra two weeks of the highs and lows of finding love. While the series is typically eight weeks long, the winter series in 2020 only last six weeks, making the 2022 series the longest yet. ITV2 has requested that anyone signing up for the series on their website should be able to make themselves available for the full time period. Eligibility requirements for the show state: "You must be exclusively available to participate in the programme for a minimum of ten consecutive weeks." Those applying must be 18 years old or more and cannot apply if they are directly related to anyone who works behind the scenes on the show. Applications are currently open for the upcoming season for a chance to stay in the villa, but it's set to be a new villa in Majorca this year. Producers of the series are looking to move from the mountains to the coast or by a lake - but the firepit and pool will still stay. A TV insider told The Sun: “ITV bosses think this is the right moment to refresh this element of the show, just as they did in series three back in 2017. “Love Island moved from a location in Santanyi in southern Majorca, which was its home for series one and two, to the current villa in Sant Llorenç des Cardassar, in the north-east. “Now they’re considering a range of options, but want to stay on the island, which has provided the perfect sunny backdrop for the show."
