This summer's season of Love Island is set to see new changes to accessibility for blind and partially-sighted fans. The dating series is expected to see all islanders record self-descriptions to allow for blind and partially-sighted audiences to get to know the cast that little bit better. The show will also provide an audio-described tour of the villa, sharing information on the visuals of the area and describing it's most crucial locations. Both the tour and the self-descriptions will be available on the Love Island YouTube page. With these design improvements to the Love Island app and the series being subtitled, experts are ensuring that there are close captions ahead of the summer series. "We're always looking for ways to make our shows more accessible to our audiences," ITV's Director of Accessibility David Padmore said in a statement. "We hope that having these Islander self-descriptions and Villa tours available alongside the show will really help bring this summer's Love Island to life for our audience." The Royal National Institute of Blind People's (RNIB) Broadcast and Audio Description Manager Sonali Rai added that the organisation welcomes these solutions to the show's accessibility.

"By embracing self-descriptions on the next series of Love Island, ITV is demonstrating a great understanding of the importance of providing equal access to content," they said.

Love Island returns to our screens on Monday, June 5th at 9pm on Virgin Media One and Virgin Media Player.
