If you’re heading to Cork, get to these eateries for the best of Irish food

The English Market "I still vividly remember the short drive into the city to visit The English Market with my mother and dancing in the streams and puddles flowing from the fish counters while she rummaged around the fruit stalls and butcher counters. "One of the gems of the market is the Farm Gate Restaurant - perched on the balcony overlooking the market and sourcing nearly all of its offering from the stalls below. "It's not complicated food, just really fresh, simple and seasonal. A real example of what good Irish food should be." Idaho "Around the corner on Caroline Street you’ll find the institution that is Idaho, run by Mairéad and Richard Jacob. Their breakfasts are legendary in the city and they are fastidious about the produce they use, even growing some on their own land outside the city." The old favourites and Fishy Fishy "If you're going to drive to Cork you have to take a spin out to Kinsale - the original culinary destination in Ireland. "All the old favourites like Man Friday, The Blue Haven and The Black Pig are still going strong but my favourite place to pop into is Fishy Fishy.
