In honour of Halloween, the whole country gets treated to a bank holiday Monday, which means one less day of work for us (hurrah!). But it's about to get even better. Smithwicks has decided to give us a little treat to make the weekend even better. (Thank you, Smithwicks.) They want us to be able to sit back with a pint and have a good old chat with our friends without spending a dime. So, to get us excited for the bank holiday, they're giving us a delicious free pint of red ale. All you have to do is don a pair of red socks. That's right, just show your red socks to the bartender from 6pm-8pm this Thursday 24 to Sunday 27 (until Saturday 26 for all pubs in the Dublin 2 area) and you'll receive your free pint. There's a limit of one free pint per person so be sure to enjoy it properly. You can find a full list of participating pubs at the bottom of this article. We will, of course, also be wearing some cat ears, a witch's hat, or some face paint to celebrate the weekend that's in it - never let it be said that we do not join in on the festivities. But that is completely optional for those of you who aren't big fans of dressing up. So go on and enjoy some of that delicious red ale this weekend, compliments of Smithwicks. After all, red is the real colour of Halloween, what with it being the colour of blood and guts and, you know, actual scary stuff. Unlike orange, the colour of the completely terrifying... pumpkin. No offence to the mighty jack-o-lantern, of course. We do all love a good old pumpkin carving. Not as much as we love a free pint though.
