We all know one person who is always worried about something. This student has only one thing on their mind when sixth-year summer comes around, RESULTS. It's as though the holiday never started, the summer is just a big long wait for those dreaded results. In total honesty, we all feel this way but usually *before* the exams.
The laugher is always up for a joke, always making the best out of situations. Even though results seems to be like the end of times for some students, the joker will always be looking to brighten the day, no matter how horribly timed it is.
All over the world, in all social circles, there’s always the crazy one. From Monday to Sunday there's no club too big or house party too small. For these students, results is the big one, the night out of the summer no matter what the points turn out to be.
You’ve seen them from time to time, like a mirage in the desert. Who knows where they’ve been all year; partying, studying, sleeping? Strolling into class the odd time, like a breeze they just seem to appear and disappear out of nowhere.
They know it, and they have definitely made you know it by now. These guys are reaching for the stars...specifically 625 points, but they’re essentially the same thing. In fairness, they’ve worked hard and probably deserve it but hey, why not share the wisdom guys.
This is probably the most common among Irish youths these days. You’ve done the work but just not... a *lot* of it. Each day that passes in the exams the classic clichè phrases, “Yeah that was handy enough” or the dreaded “Ah sure ‘twas grand” are echoed around the hall but it's usually the wishful thinkers who are talking that talk after..crawling the walk. We’ve all been here at some point but never before has it been so prevalent.
Sometimes it's probably a good thing not to have a care in the world but now is really not the time. We can't help but feel a little jealous, to not have to worry about the results as if they were the end of the world. You can usually find this rare specimen in a variety of natural habitats such as; the bed, the kitchen, the couch, the club, the alley and maybe if you’re lucky enough, in school. No matter how bad the day might be going, they’ll usually be looking for a way to finish the day with a nice refreshing drink. Classic phrases for this student include; “Don’t stress, its hassle, I'll do it later, not arsed for this, can’t hack it” and maybe..just maybe “sure look, be grand”
So here are the rest of us. Normal students just cruising through and waiting to see what cards we are dealt. College, work, gap years are all knocking on the door. The stress is there but its out of our hands now and hopefully things will all work out well.
