Maguires of Grafton Street took to Facebook earlier this month to announce it would be transforming into a franchise of the salad chain Chopped.
The reaction was one of devastation and raw grief.
The heartbroken and loyal customers of Maguires are naturally very upset, but want to commemorate spicier times with a memorial service for the much-missed shop.
The Facebook event, One Last Chicken Fillet Roll was initiated by students, who were naturally horrified to see their delicious rolls being replaced with quinoa and sprouting broccoli.
One user posted: " This place isn't just a deli/newsagents, it's a place of worship. And this is the altar,
Where the rolls are like the holy bread, And the chicken/fillings are like the other things that you might find in a church."
