“In the tasks of daily life, our emotional needs often get pushed to the side,” clinical psychologist Lynn Saladino told the paper. “We stop seeing our partner as an emotional being and more as a person who helps us complete tasks and meet obligations. “When this happens, it can be very tempting to seek support elsewhere.”Experts say, emotional detachment in relationships is a common source of problems and often leads to infidelity. Something many women worry about, with the study finding that nearly 90 percent of women worry about their partners being involved in an emotional affair.
And it seems most people are finding that external connection in the office.
The research found that 60 percent of emotional affairs begin at work because of the mutual understanding of their stresses and worries.
