Eight Instagram spots you have to visit when you go to Moscow

Moscow is one of those cities that will surprise you every corner you turn. There is so much to do and see in the Russian capital. A lot of people have no interest in going to Moscow but we promise you, you won't be disappointed if you do go. Red Square Red Square is THE place to go and take as many photos as you can when you visit Moscow. Taking the ultimate Instagram photo here can be tricky with so many people there all the time, but it can be done. A little tip would be to get your photographer (oh sorry, we mean you friends or family) to get as low as they can to the ground and tilt their phone or camera up to get the best photo of you in front of St.Basil’s Cathedral or the Gum. That way, they can eliminate most of the people that surround you from the photo. Komsomolskaya metro station Moscow is home to some of the oldest and most extravagant metro stations in the world. And honestly, you’d wouldn’t believe how clean they all are. Like, spotless. Komsomolskaya metro station is one of the best in the city. With high ceilings, pillars and ceramics, it looks more like a fancy ballroom in a five star hotel rather than a train station. You have to check it out while you are underground. Zaryadye Park Zaryadye Park is Moscow’s newest park and it is beaut. Its located on the Moscow River, just a stone’s throw away from Red Square so there’s no excuse for you not to visit it if you are in town. This park truly is one of a kind. The most talked about feature of the park is its floating bridge that hovers over the river. Sounds crazy, but it's true. There is also a massive amphitheatre in the park so we think it’s the perfect place to take a break from walking the streets of Moscow and to pose for a couple of photos on the bridge. Cathedral of Christ the Saviour This is our favourite spot in Moscow. If you stand on the bridge at the cathedral you’ll see the Kremlin on one side and Peter the Great on the other. We recommend you go into the cathedral but we’ll let you know now before you go, you cannot take any photos inside. But, you can climb to the top of the cathedral, take in the views of Moscow and take as many photos as you like. The Mercedes Bar If you have a free evening in Moscow, you should definitely head to the Mercedes Bar in the Ukraina Hotel. The bar is 30 floors up and the panoramic view from the top is incredible. Drinks are quite pricey in the bar (about ten euro for a cocktail) but it's well worth getting one or two just to take in the view, wander around the bar and take some cool snaps. Gorky Park Gorky Park is the spot to go if you want to escape the hustle and bustle of Moscow’s busy streets. It’s the place in Moscow where you can explore Russian culture, make shapes playing volleyball or chill on the bean bags that are scattered throughout the park. You’ll also see plenty of brides and grooms roaming the park so that will tell you that it is one of the best places in the city for photo opportunities. Gum Gum is one of the most over-the-top shopping centres in Moscow, if not the world. You’ll find over one hundred different shops in there but if you are anything like us, the only thing you’ll be buying in there is one of their famous ice-cream cones because everything else is so expensive. Head to the fountain towards the middle of the mall to get the best photos. The fountain is usually decorated differently depending on what season we are in. Peter the Great statue Most tourists love the Peter the Great statue when they see it (including us), but most Russians hate it. It is one of the tallest statues in the world standing ninety-six metres high. It’s nice to just chill out on the park benches beside the statue on a hot summer's day and just watch the world go by. You’ll always see tourists posing in front of Peter so don’t be afraid to do the same yourself in order to get those likes.
