To kickstart your weekend of relaxation I recommend the Hero Package. The aptly named package is the hero you're looking for. Once you've checked in you will be invited to enjoy afternoon tea with bubbles in the hotel lounge.
I've had my fair share of afternoon teas and this one is up there with the best. The amount of effort that has gone in to choosing the perfect sandwiches and sweet treats is evident from the spread they present to you. Their fine China crockery adds an extra special touch to the afternoon feast.
After you've licked your plates clean, trust me you'll want to, you'll make your way over to The Heritage Spa where one of the therapists will be waiting to bring you for your signature ESPA Hero treatment.
It's eighty minutes of pure bliss. The treatment has been specifically chosen to target three key areas to maximize your relaxation. It begins with a back exfoliation and hot stone massage, followed by a customised facial, tailored to each your skin and finishing with a relaxing scalp massage.
You'll be walking out of the room and into the relaxation suite feeling like a new person. After you've spent some time in the relaxation suite you're able to enjoy what else the spa has to offer. From its pool, jacuzzi, foot spa, sauna and steam rooms you'll gladly spend the rest of your afternoon relaxing.
Another added bonus of this hotel is the 5km track that surrounds it. You may need a walk after the afternoon tea or maybe to stretch your legs the following morning and this track is so well positioned that you can do that with ease.
Topping off an already perfect weekend is how you are treated throughout it. The hotel staff are on hand for any requests and make the weekend even more enjoyable. There is no request that is too big or too small.
I couldn't recommend the Hero Package enough. It would suit couples, newlyweds, a girly night away, a hen party or even just a solo get away trip. It's available from €199 per person and includes your accommodation in a deluxe room with breakfast, afternoon tea with bubbles, unlimited access to the Heritage Spa Experience and The Club, and the 80-minute ESPA Hero Treatment.
Another added bonus is that Killenard is in midlands so it's within easy reach of most counties. It's approximately an hour's drive from Dublin City and just 1 hour 20 from Limerick, and two hours from Cork and Galway. Are saunas actually good for you? Here’s what experts have to say
