Guinness are creating some very special postcards for the holiday season

This Christmas, Guinness is transforming beermats into postcards to deliver festive well-wishes from pubs across the country to friends and family, at home and abroad, with the help of An Post.

For many people, the first card through the letterbox heralds the first signs of Christmas. Or, maybe it is when you hear the chime of the church bell from the iconic Guinness White Christmas ad? This year Guinness and An Post are joining together, with a timely reminder to reach out to those who make every day (not just the big days) special. “The pub and the post office are part of the community in Ireland – especially at this time of year. Christmas is all about connecting with friends and family so we were delighted to work with An Post and ALONE to turn our Guinness beermats into Christmas cards to help consumers connect with friends and loved ones, at home and abroad," Alan McAleenan of Guinness said. “Christmas is An Post’s busiest time of year, when we are delivering cards and parcels, to and from loved ones round the world.  The Guinness Postcard is another reminder to take a moment to send a special handwritten message, whether near or far this Christmas," Garrett Bridgeman, Managing Director of Mails and Parcels, An Post added. Pubgoers will have the opportunity to share their festive greetings from over 100 participating pubs across the country. Upon purchasing a pint of Guinness, they will receive a complimentary postcard to connect with friends and family across the world. For every postcard sent Guinness will make a donation to ALONE, supporting their work in ensuring older people are not left isolated and lonely this Christmas. Furthermore, across a selection of pubs, Guinness and An Post will roll out special edition Guinness “post boxes”, meaning consumers won’t even need to leave the comfort of their local pub to post their holiday cheer. These pubs will include O’Connell’s in Co. Galway, Toners and Bonobo in Dublin, Left Bank Co. Kilkenny and the iconic J. O’Connell’s pub in Co. Meath, the pub that features in the Guinness White Christmas TV ad.
