Coming into Winter, there's no prizes for guessing that we should be choosing a more moisturising formula.
However, what we didn't know is that we should be using a separate anti-bacterial formula after a sweaty workout sesh, especially if you are acne-prone.
Francesca Fusco, M.D., a medical and cosmetic dermatologist in New York, told Women's Health that it is imperative to combat acne-causing bacteria in the shower post-gym.
A mixture of bacteria and sweat can cause acne.
She said: “For gym showers only, I recommend antibacterial soaps, because let's face it, gyms can be sources of bacteria."
However, she did emphasise that anti-bacterial formulas can be very drying, so after your gym shower, "moisturizing is a must.”
