According to Sun Gazing, marshmallows only take a few minutes to freeze and are as effective as ice. What's more, they retain their flexibility so you can mould and shape them around the body part in need of cold compression.
AND, you won't have all that melted water on you that you get from using ice cubes. Also, you can divide up the pack and snack on them while you wait for the others to freeze.
