Finding a name for your little one is tricky enough, but the woman explained on Reddit that she and her husband had come up with a plan for their twins.
She would name one of them, he would name the other – although they would still get to veto the names. Since they are unsure of the genders, she came up with a number of names for their unborn children.
“My husband told me he wanted to name one Claire, if we have a girl,” she continued. “Claire is his mother’s name and she hates me.”
She added that she isn’t the biggest fan of the name, so she tried to find a compromise that would work.
“I said we can give Claire as a middle name OR compromise and use the name Clara, similar names in my opinion. Gabriella Claire seems like a nice enough name to me.”
“He went off on one about how the name has a huge meaning to him and how he was so excited etc, he had already promised his mother.”
Hundreds of people responded to the post, with many of them agreeing that her husband shouldn’t have gone behind her back and made that promise.
“Hubby had absolutely no right to promise anything to his mom regarding wife or the baby without running it all past wife first,” one person said.
“Doesn’t matter if it’s been a family tradition forever, or he’s a mommy’s boy, or whatever – you just don’t do that sort of thing.”
“You had veto power and he shouldn’t have promised anything to his mother,” another person wrote.
“He knew you had veto power and he went ahead and promised his mom,” a different commenter said. “That’s a big issue, especially considering she hates you.
