Ireland’s first ‘boatel’ could be opening in THIS city very soon

As if booking into a hotel, having food served to you, and chilling out for a few days wasn't great enough, some people have gone and invented the 'boatel' so you can do all of those things while also floating on some water. Divine. The boatel trend has been a thing for a good few years now, with some stunning boutique boats already existing in cities like London, Berlin, Amsterdam, and Paris. Now, Ireland is set to get its own boatel - and it could be here as early as the end of this year. https://www.instagram.com/p/6I7_tGE7IT/ Planning permission has been given for the country's first floating hotel to open on Cork's River Lee, with planners saying they hope the vessel will have landed in the city by Christmas. Developer Sam Corbett told the Irish Examiner that he was happy with the decision to let the project go ahead as it will hopefully bring more tourism to Cork City.

“I would hope that over the coming years, we will see more floating attractions on the River Lee (...) the river has got great potential."

The boatel in question would have three decks, 96 cabins, and be able to offer accommodation for up to 156 people. After this, they will have to apply to Cork City Council again if they want the vessel to remain on the Lee. Corbett's boat is expected to be refitted to include larger cabins later this week.
